For a senior. For a puppy.
For a dog who is always on the move
An orthopaedic dog bed is often associated primarily with senior dogs. And indeed, older dogs may particularly appreciate a stable sleeping surface, a Memory Foam layer and easier access through the lowered front of the bed. As dogs age, finding a comfortable position may not come as easily as it once did. They may take longer to settle, change sides more frequently or feel reluctant to step over a high edge. The entrance to DECO has been designed to require less effort, while the mattress provides even support during rest.
Yet this is only part of the story. Puppies grow rapidly, learn how to use their bodies and experience an extraordinary number of new things every day. After activity, they need a place where they can fall asleep peacefully and regain their energy. A stable mattress and soft, embracing sides create an environment that encourages calm, while the lowered entrance makes it easier for a puppy to use the bed independently.
Active and sporting dogs regularly place their muscles under strain while running, training, enjoying long walks or joining their guardians on shared adventures. Resting on a supportive mattress is a natural complement to movement — just like a suitable diet, proper hydration and enough time to recover.
For dogs recovering after surgery, a stable surface and easy entrance may also improve everyday comfort during recuperation. In these situations, the choice of bed should always be discussed with the attending veterinary surgeon, particularly when the dog has individual recommendations concerning resting positions or activity. One bed. Many different stages of life. The same need for proper rest.
Appropriate support does not depend
solely on a dog’s age
Joint problems do not affect only senior dogs or exclusively the largest breeds. Dog guardians often choose orthopaedic beds for dogs with hip dysplasia, degenerative changes or arthritis, regardless of their size. This applies to Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Great Danes, sighthounds and molosser breeds, as well as smaller dogs with distinctive body structures, such as French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs.
DECO does not treat medical conditions and is not a substitute for veterinary care. Its purpose is to provide a comfortable, stable resting place that helps distribute the pressure placed on the dog’s body more evenly. This is an important distinction. We do not make medical promises. We create conditions in which a dog can rest more comfortably.
Good support may matter both when a dog already has a diagnosed musculoskeletal condition and when their guardian wishes to care consciously for the everyday comfort of healthy joints. Where health conditions are present, a carefully selected bed should always be combined with veterinary recommendations, appropriate exercise and responsible weight management. Prevention does not mean waiting for the first problem to appear. It means providing your dog with the best possible conditions every day.

Stable support for a
large dog too
A larger dog needs more than simply a larger surface. They need a mattress whose supportive properties remain effective beneath a heavier body. That is why the proportions of both layers in DECO have been developed so that the lower resilient foam creates a stable base, while the upper Memory Foam layer can adapt to the dog without compromising appropriate support. This is particularly important for larger breeds. A Labrador, Golden Retriever or German Shepherd places very different pressure on a resting surface than a miniature dog. A mattress that is too thin or excessively soft may quickly stop insulating the body from the floor.
The two-layer DECO construction helps prevent this. The stable base limits excessive sinking, while Memory Foam adapts to the dog’s silhouette and supports comfort in areas placed under greater pressure during rest. For this reason, a good orthopaedic bed for a large dog should not be assessed solely by its external dimensions. The internal construction of the mattress and the way it behaves beneath the dog’s actual weight are equally important. In DECO, every one of these elements has been considered as part of a single, carefully designed whole.
Soft sides that let your dog rest
exactly as they prefer
Although the two-layer mattress is at the heart of the orthopaedic version, DECO’s comfort does not end at its surface. The sides remain filled with certified, first-class hypoallergenic synthetic down. They are resilient and carefully filled — soft enough for your dog to rest their muzzle comfortably, yet stable enough to maintain their elegant shape throughout everyday use.
For many dogs, supporting the head is a natural part of resting. From this position, they observe the family, keep an eye on what is happening in the sitting room or gradually drift off while remaining close to the people they love. The soft edges also create a sense of being gently enclosed. They define the dog’s own space without surrounding them with a heavy or overly solid structure.
The distinctive front opening gives the bed its contemporary appearance, but its role is primarily practical. It makes entering easier for puppies, senior dogs and those who move more carefully or are recovering after treatment. At Bowl&Bone Republic, we believe that good design should never force a choice between form and function. It should allow one to arise naturally from the other.
Waterproof protection exactly
where it is needed
Foam provides exceptional comfort, but it also requires suitable protection from moisture. That is why the DECO mattress is enclosed within an additional inner cover made from a liquid-resistant fabric. This solution is particularly important for senior dogs, unwell companions and animals who occasionally experience difficulties with bladder control. It will also be appreciated by guardians of puppies who are still learning the rules of cleanliness at home.
The outer cover can be removed and washed. The inner layer, meanwhile, helps protect the foam itself against moisture, making it considerably easier to keep the mattress hygienic. This is important not only in the event of a larger unexpected accident. Everyday use may also involve moisture carried on the coat and paws, saliva or smaller marks. The waterproof inner cover extends the life of the mattress by protecting its most important component without taking away the comfort provided by Memory Foam. Sometimes the most luxurious solutions are those that can barely be seen. They simply make everyday life easier.
Beautiful even when everyday life
leaves its mark
Life with a dog is not a perfectly staged photograph. It means wet paws after a walk, fur left behind on a favourite resting place, an afternoon nap after a bath and puppy ideas that are impossible to predict. That is why all DECO outer covers are removable. They can be washed by hand or in a washing machine in accordance with the care instructions, restoring the bed’s freshness without the need to replace the entire product.
The mattress can be removed, making it easier to care for the cover and to arrange all elements correctly after washing. Should you wish to refresh the appearance of the bed after several years, replacement covers can be purchased separately. It is also possible to order a new mattress or another insert if the original is accidentally damaged. One unexpected incident therefore does not need to result in the purchase of an entirely new bed. Good premium products should not reach the end of their story after the first season of intensive use. They should offer the possibility of renewal, repair and continued enjoyment. That is exactly how we designed DECO.
Premium corduroy —
a fabric you instinctively want to touch
Orthopaedic properties do not mean that a dog bed has to appear technical or austere. DECO remains a designer element of the interior. Its soft form and characteristic front opening are finished in elegant, matt premium corduroy.
Some fabrics attract attention through colour. Others make you instinctively want to touch them. Corduroy belongs to the latter category. Its distinctive yet subtle texture evokes the warmth of home, soft armchairs and the kind of comfort you look forward to returning to. Both the fabric and the foams used in DECO meet the requirements of OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. The textile also complies with REACH requirements. This allows DECO’s appearance to remain closely connected with high standards for materials used in the dog’s immediate surroundings. Beauty matters. But only beauty designed for everyday life becomes true quality.
An orthopaedic dog bed in six colours
that do not follow passing trends
A dog bed is increasingly placed somewhere visible. Beside the sofa. Next to the bed. In the home office. Where the whole family rests and where everyday life truly happens. That is why the DECO palette was not created for a single season. We selected six colours capable of complementing an interior for years to come.
Warm cream brings lightness and subtlety to the space. Latte surrounds it with a calm, natural tone. Grey and graphite work beautifully in minimalist interiors. Bottle green adds depth and refinement, while brick red creates an elegant accent inspired by warm, earthy shades. Each colour emphasises the structure of the corduroy differently. In lighter shades, the fabric appears gentle and soft. In darker colours, it takes on a stronger, furniture-inspired character. This is why DECO can stand proudly in the heart of the sitting room. There is no need to hide it. A designer orthopaedic dog bed should provide the finest possible rest while naturally belonging to the interior you share.
From a Chihuahua or French Bulldog
to a Labrador
DECO is available in four sizes: S, M, L and XL. This allows guardians of both small dogs and larger, heavier companions to choose a suitable option. The smaller sizes may be appropriate for breeds including the Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Pomeranian, Dachshund or French Bulldog. Larger versions have been designed with dogs such as the Cocker Spaniel, Border Collie, English Bulldog, Australian Shepherd, Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever in mind. Breed, however, is only a guideline.
The best size depends on the dog’s measurements and preferred sleeping position. A dog who usually curls into a ball may require less space than another of a similar weight who sleeps fully stretched out. It is therefore worth measuring your dog in their natural sleeping position and allowing enough room for them to change position freely.
Should the standard dimensions not suit your companion’s needs or the space intended for the bed, DECO can also be made to measure. This option is particularly helpful for breeds with unusual proportions, exceptionally large dogs and interiors in which every centimetre matters. A dog should not have to adapt to their bed. The bed should be adapted to the dog.
