GUARD type dog harness – what is worth knowing about them

a dog in a pin harness

Are you looking for the best harness cut for your four-legged friend? If so, I recommend you check out the guard harness. Their unquestionable advantage is that they do not block the dog’s shoulders. Thanks to this, his movements are unrestricted, and he can actively spend time outdoors.

The characteristic feature of the guard-cut dog harness is that the dog’s head is on. Their construction means your four-legged friend cannot slip out of his harness alone. This type of dog harness is very convenient for your four-legged friend to wear.

What you will learn from this article:

  • The guard dog harness is put on over the head
  • This construction of the harness makes it impossible for the dog to free himself from the harness
  • The guard harness is very comfortable for the dog in everyday use

Guard harness

When choosing accessories for your four-legged friend, you certainly want to be sure you have chosen the best option for him. The market for dog products is currently huge. We can choose from a lot of options and variants. As you know, every dog, just like me, has its tastes and preferences. Therefore, not every product will work for your dog.

For this reason, you have so many styles of harnesses for your four-legged friend to choose from. All this to make him feel completely free and comfortable during your daily walks together. If you want to find out what type of harness will be best for your dog, today, I want to tell you more about guard harnesses.

This type of harness worked perfectly for my dog. Perhaps it will also be a hit with your four-legged friend. However, if you do not know a guard dog harness, it will provide you with all the necessary information.

Dog harnesses or collars

A very often asked question by newly minted dog guardians is what they should choose for their dog, harness or maybe collars. If you want a more detailed answer to this question, I refer you to my post, which you can find HERE.

However, I will briefly explain how this situation looks in reality. Both a harness and a collar are good choices for a dog. First, you should check what your four-legged friend feels more comfortable in.

A dog collar is recommended when your pooch is still a tiny puppy. It is easier to teach him to walk on his leg than when the dog wears a harness. The collar makes the dog feel more resistance on the leash.

In addition, because the body of puppies is still in the growth phase, it is for this reason that it is recommended to choose a dog collar. Dogs tend to pull on leashes. In the case of harnesses, the pressure is distributed over the body, i.e. the dog’s spine, which is not as strong as in an adult dog. As a result, this situation can negatively affect the dog’s body posture.

Therefore, I recommend choosing a collar if you have a puppy under your care. However, when your dog becomes a mature dog, please select the option that will be the most comfortable choice for him.

Guard type harness – characteristics

Moving on to the main topic, which is the guard dog harness, I want to tell you the characteristics of this product. If you have not encountered this type of harness, I hope I can clearly and accurately explain its attributes.

The guard harness consists of two hoops. Usually, the front is slightly smaller than the back. That is because one will be around the canine’s neck and the other around his waist. The hoops connect in two places, on the dog’s back and under his belly.

Your dog’s safety

What makes these harnesses so unique? First, there is no way for the dog to free himself from them. That is especially important if your dog doesn’t follow the stay or get-up commands correctly. Left loose in a public place, he could pursue a squirrel or pigeon without looking back.

The construction of the harness makes your four-legged friend safe. Even the most unruly and agile dog will not be able to free himself from his harness on his own.

If your dog tends to get out of his harness, models with a guard construction will be the best solution for him.

Easy to put on

Some dogs react badly when their harness is put on directly through their paws. It can be an uncomfortable feeling for them. The guard-type harness has a construction that is put on the dog differently.

Every dog is different. It has its own character and individual preferences. That is why there are so many other models of dog harnesses available. All this to maximize the ease of putting on the harness by your dog.

There is no denying that harnesses accompany your four-legged friend every day. He wears them several times a day. That is why they must be as comfortable as possible for him to put them on.

The ease of putting on the guard harness is one of the reasons why I decided on this model. My four-legged friend has days when he can be very fussy while preparing for a walk. Not every harness will be suitable for putting it on efficiently and quickly.

Dog comfort

An essential aspect of choosing a dog harness should be the dog’s comfort when wearing them. Your four-legged friend needs to feel that nothing restricts his movements, so he can fully enjoy the time spent outside.

The comfort of wearing the harness directly affects how your dog feels during joint outings. If some element makes the dog hurt or disturb him, he cannot entirely focus on a walk or playing in the fresh air. That is perfectly normal, and I understand what it means.

A guard harness will be a great option, even for the most demanding and fussy dog. Due to the construction of the harness, they do not press the dog’s paws in any place. Thanks to this, nothing restricts his movements, and he can run and play freely.

Fashionable design

A dog harness is a permanent element of a dog’s life. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the fact that they are fully functional, comfortable, and fashionable.

By choosing a guard harness from the BLOOM line from Bowl&Bone Republic, you can be sure your dog’s accessories are stylish and well-tailored. The harness is available in three colours: pink, red and grey. Thanks to this, you will find the best option for your dog.

Harnesses are your dog’s showcase during joint walks. So why not make sure your dog looks fashionable?

The best harness for your dog

Choosing the best dog harness is a real challenge. If you do not know which type to choose, the guard type will undoubtedly work for even the most demanding dog. This type of harness does not block the dog’s shoulders, which gives him complete freedom of movement.
