Help your dog sleep better
I don’t know about your pooch, but my four-legged friend loves his afternoon naps, which are already his daily ritual. After returning from a walk, which in our case is the longest and most active, my pooch lies down in his bed and rests. It lands his batteries for the rest of the day.
If something disturbs his nap, my pooch is very dissatisfied and grumpy. Therefore, I try not to disturb him during this time. I don’t know if you know, but you can help your dog sleep better. Considering how much of the day our dogs sleep, I believe that this is important and very helpful information in everyday life with a dog.
I will tell you what works for my dog. I hope your pet will find it equally valuable and helpful. Or maybe you have ways to make your pooch sleep better? Please share your tips with me by leaving a comment at the end of the article.
How to make your dog sleep better?
I am sure that after keeping your pooch, you will notice very quickly that his sleep is very satisfying for him. My pooch is satisfied after a good nap and his mood is much better. I’ll tell you what makes my puppy feel this way after sleeping.
Comfortable bedding for a dog
Good bedding for your pooch is the basis for good sleep. A comfortable bed is a must-have in your four-legged friend’s layette. His sleep quality depends on whether your dog feels comfortable while lying down.
So what should be the best bed for your dog? First of all, made of high-quality materials. Thanks to this, it will keep its shape for a very long time and will not deform. I think that for anyone, sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress is not pleasant. It significantly impacts the quality of sleep, both for our dogs and us.
Therefore, when buying bedding for my four-legged friend, I choose sound, proven brands. Thanks to this, I know that sending my pooch will serve him longer than just one season. My puppy uses the URBAN lair from Bowl & Bone Republic. For the cushion set from the same line. This duo works perfectly for him.

The location of the dog bedding
The dog’s location in the house is as important as the bedding itself. Choosing the place for our dog is an essential point that, unfortunately, we often forget. When buying a dog bed, dog owners usually place it where it will best harmonize with the rest of the home decor. Unfortunately, this is a huge mistake. The setting of the dog’s bedding should by no means be accidental.
First, it is worth bearing in mind that your pooch must be able to see the entire space around it to be entirely comfortable while sleeping. Therefore, putting a dog’s lair in the account is not good, from where the pooch can see practically nothing.
Why is it so important? Because it directly affects the dog’s sense of security. Your pooch will not be anxious that someone might suddenly surprise him.
Another critical issue you should consider when placing your pooch’s bedding in a given room is that it should not be located directly under the light source. If you happen to work late, don’t place your bed in a bed next to your desk, where the light from the lamp will disturb your four-legged friend’s sleep.
Take a leisurely walk with your dog before going to bed
One of my pooch’s favourite elements during the day is walking. We spend most of our time outside in the afternoon. Then, in addition to walking along the paths in the park, we also have fun and spend time actively outdoors.
However, when it comes time for the last walk during the day, I try to make it more calming. I take my pet to places where there will not be a lot of external stimuli that may unnecessarily wake up the pooch. I avoid alleys frequented by other dogs when my four-legged friend’s body is slowly getting ready for sleep.
Why is it so important? Because too much excitement before bedtime can make your pooch too excited to fall asleep in peace. As a result, he will fidget for a long time in his lair, unable to sleep.
Pay attention to what your last walk of the day with your dog looks like. Is it calming or just the opposite? The doggy returns after him, clearly energized and ready for further action. If so, then, unfortunately, it could be a direct cause of trouble falling asleep for your four-legged friend. For this reason, I do not recommend taking the pooch to the dog yard late in the evening. It is too emotional for a dog to calm down before bed.

Light dog dinner
The amount of food eaten by a pooch before bedtime also affects his sleep quality during the night. That’s why I always serve my four-legged friend dinner a few hours before bedtime. Thanks to this, his body can digest the meal to a large extent.
You undoubtedly know the unpleasant feeling when you have problems falling asleep immediately after eating a huge and heavy meal. Your pooch feels precisely the same in this situation. Therefore, I never give my dog dinner directly before he goes to bed.
Avoid giving them food immediately before bed if you want to make your four-legged friends sleep better.
Take care of the atmosphere.
I always try to ventilate the room in which I go to sleep before going to bed. I love falling asleep in my bedroom with fresh air. When I know that my pooch is going to sleep, I also try to ensure the right atmosphere for him.
When the radiators start to heat, I put on an air humidifier before we sleep. Heaters heat the temperature in the room, so I sleep much worse. In the fall/winter season, I run each queue in the company of air to take care of my sleep and my four-legged friend.
