Snacks, treats, which dog doesn’t love them? The selection of shop sweets for our pets is huge. When looking for delicacies that our pet could enjoy, it is sometimes worth preparing something for him yourself.

How to prepare dog treats?

Preparing dog treats requires following fundamental rules. First, let’s remember that some of the products we use in the kitchen are very harmful to animals. This group includes, among others: sugar, chocolate, milk and milk products, onions, garlic, avocados, peaches and grapes. When preparing dog treats, we have complete control over their composition and the quality of the products from which we make them. Homemade cookies are healthier and tastier because they are made straight from the heart.

Chicken-flavoured dog biscuits

No dog can resist chicken-flavoured delicacies, especially if we make them. These dog biscuits are perfect as a snack we can give your pet during a walk because they will not crumble when carried in a bag. Their structure and consistency allow you to divide the baking into smaller parts easily. The presented proportions are enough to prepare 10-15 cookies, depending on the size of the moulds we choose.

Ingredients:

150 g of chicken

1 medium-sized carrot

1 small parsley

¼ of a large apple

1.5 cups of flour

1.5-2 tablespoons of oil

We start preparing dog treats by putting all the necessary ingredients in one place so that we have easy access to them and do not miss anything. We cut the chicken and carrot into small cubes, then throw them into about 100 ml of water and cook for about 15 minutes. After this time, we wait until the whole thing cools down, then add the chopped apple and parsley and pour in the oil. Once all the ingredients are mixed, blend them until smooth. Add the flour and start kneading the dough. If the mass is well kneaded, there are no lumps, and it is not too sticky, we put it in the fridge for about half an hour. At this time, we can set the oven to a temperature of approx—150 ° C.

Take the dough out of the fridge, knead it into a ball shape, and then roll it out to be about 4 mm thick. In the mass prepared in this way, use the moulds to cut out individual dog biscuits. Place the finished delicacies on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. When you notice the cookies are golden in colour, take them out of the oven and leave them to cool. We suggest giving the treats to the dog after 24 hours because they will become highly crunchy after waiting for this time.

Dog treats as a great reward

Treats are an excellent reward for your dog while learning new skills. Exercise with your pet will certainly run more efficiently when the motivation is getting a delicious homemade cookie. Remember, however, that all kinds of dog treats cannot be a substitute for your pet’s usual meals. It should be a kind of snack and variety to his diet. If the dog doesn’t like the cookies, don’t be discouraged. We experiment with the choice of ingredients. Perhaps replacing chicken with duck or turkey will be perfect for our pet’s culinary taste.
